Slug & Spike is a tattoo flash anthology in progress and represents a larger, ongoing practice. The book, slated to undergo publishing by the end of 2025, began as a pandemic passion project. When I started making flash sheets in 2021, I found that I love transforming critters and little moments into simple dot- and line-work drawings. Most of the designs are inspired by reference material I've collected in the wild, often with whimsical twists inspired by the queer and chronically online communities that I'm a part of (IYKYK).

As a tattooing practice, Slug & Spike was originally intended for handpoke. While I have handpoked a number of designs on myself and some dear friends, I quickly realized that the level of detail I aim for lends better to machine tattooing. I have committed a lot of time to independent tattoo study over the past few years and am steadily learning the ins and outs of different machines. I intend to enter Slug & Spike: Phase II (booking appointments) once I complete the book's first edition. In the spirit of American traditional tattooing, I intend for Slug & Spike flash to be repeatable and available for use by other artists. However, I kindly ask that folks refrain from using the designs until I am also equipped for bookings!

Every print here is excerpted from the book's drafts. Some print designs are mixed-and-matched from different sections of the book, while others have since been updated or cut from the final draft. Sales contribute toward advancing Phase II.

Since I reproduce every Slug & Spike print by hand, slight variations are to be expected, making each piece as unique as a work on skin.
